Lou Pearlman is the larger-than-life impresario behind N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. He's now in jail in Florida, awaiting trial for defrauding hundreds of people in a financial scheme. But even more sinister allegations are being made in a new Vanity Fair articlePearlman was a sexual predator. Steve Mooney is an aspiring singer who was also Pearlmans assistant. Mooney tells INSIDE EDITION, Lou Pearlman is a criminal. Hes a crook and hes a sexual predator thats what I want (people) to know. He was interviewed for the Vanity Fair article, and told INSIDE EDITION how he once asked Pearlman how he could break into a boy band. "He leaned back in his chair, in his white terry cloth robe and white underwear, and spread his legs. And then he said, 'You're a smart boy. Figure it out.'" Also in the article, Rich Cronin, the lead singer of another Pearlman-created band, LFO, says Pearlman was "touchy-feely, always grabbing your shouldersrubbing your abs. It was so obvious and disgustingI avoided him like the plague." Pearlman spoke to INSIDE EDITION in 2004 about the bond he held with his boy bands. My groups are my children because I almost got married twice, I didn't, but as a result I tell you, it's just so much fun being around the young generation. While Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's mom wouldn't acknowledge any improper conduct, Jane Carter told Vanity Fair, quote: "Certain things happened and it almost destroyed our family. I tried to warn everyone. I tried to warn all the mothersI tried to expose him for what he was years ago." According to Mooney, (Pearlman) deserves to be put behind bars for being a sexual predator. |
