I was a voluntary moderator on the late Crimes of Persuasion Forum, section 419 Nigerian fraud. I am writing this, coming to the defense of Les Henderson, a Canadian consumer-fraud author ("Crimes of Persuasion" and "Under Investigation") and owner of Crimes-Of-Persuasion.com, one of the world's largest & most renown independent Internet resources on scams, schemes and frauds. The site is highly esteemed and recommended or linked by a large number of respectable sites, a.o. by the Alabama Attorney General Consumer Links, the California Department of Corrections, Alaska State DCED, the City of Alhambra Investigations Division , the City of Greensburg Police Department, the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs, William Langston's Research Methods Laboratory Manual Page, the Queens Borough Public Library - Research & Internet page, Saginaw Township Police, the famous Quatloos!, Annie McGuire's FraudAid.com, The Senior Action Coalition, The US Embassy Botswana , The Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C., Daybreak Care, Bill E. June 2004 Les Henderson wrote on his site's Forum that he had been served from out of the blue (presented in a very embarrassing manner by some uniformed guys) with a law suit by Fashion Rock, LLC, a Florida company he never heard of before. It showed to be a talent scouting company owned by Orlando salesman Louis J. Pearlman, known of the Backstreet Boys and the infamous Wilhelmina Scouting Network aka Trans Continental Talent. About Pearlman and the WSN/TCT affair there is some informative writing on Henderson's site indeed [1] [2], same as on many other reputable sites and news outlets (see right column).

Apparently after my publishing a nice page full of search engine results about Pearlman's cloudy past and my concluding his massive talentscouting businesses are nothing but scams, Lou added Klaas de Vries Jr to his list of defendants aka "Group of Criminals" (Court file PDF), consequently making Klaas a co-target in an absurd & nasty Internet smear campaign.

This ugly campaign, executed by Fashion Rock (former?) CEO Mark Tolner and Pearlman's (former?) paid consultant and main advisor Ayman El Difrawi aka Alec Defrawy (Defrawi), got even nastier after Les Henderson in return filed a libel suit against Pearlman, Tolner, Defrawy and several others involved. A nuisance for mr. Henderson (and family) who has to spend time and fees to legally defend himself and who is subject of very nasty false accusations, like spreading virusses, installing Trojans and attempting to have sex and drugs with a 17 year old girl (see voy.com posting). Within a few hours after the board posting about the alleged girl's harassment the lie was featured on Defrawy's fake consumer protection site Bureau of Ethical Internet Commerce beiconline.com. (now defunct, see copy). An extensive sickening collection of gathered smear can be found at the latest Defrawy mock site easybackgroundchecked.com.

Who is Lou.

Talent Rock, LLC (former Fashion Rock), Web Style Network and Castnet.com (renamed castpages.com) are closely allied "modeling service" companies owned by Louis J. Pearlman, a businessman from Orlando FL who is an expert in selling "teenage dreams" and getting the most out of it. He made a fortune with exploiting boy bands Back Street Boys and N'Sync and is operating in music and travel business with Trans Continental Companies.

Lou Pearlman's Talent Rock / Fashion Rock company history was messy right from the start. The previous name changes and bankruptcies, the thousands of consumer complaints, the criminal pasts of WSN/FR staff members Alec Defrawy / Difrawi / Defrawi , David Elliot a.o.. Sales practices of Fashion Rock's direct predecessors Trans Continental Talent, a/k/a Wilhelmina Scouting Network ( Fashion Rock / Web Style Network BBB reports) were named deceitful, misleading and scam by several US State officials and politicians. Fashion Rock's (now Talent Rock) actual services (talent contests and a web database) have been called a misleading, overpriced, and high-pressure sales operation as well. Up to date there has not been significant changes in perception, see some recent comments from experienced professional models.

Main targets in Pearlman's efforts to wipe the shady parts of his history from the web are some privately owned high ranked consumer-awareness websites: rip-off report (badbusinessbureau) by Ed Magedson, the anonymously run "Modeling Industry WatchDog Website" easybackgroundcheck.com (EZBC) and Les Henderson owned Crimes-Of-Persuasion.com. To get them and others, conspiracy allegations are made up to make sueing under RICO possible.

Mark Tolner threatening site owners and ISP's with lawsuits (he tried klaasdevriesjr.nl 's hosting company too, suggesting Klaas was advertising Credit Card fraud).

Alec DeFrawy (aka Difrawi / Defrawey / Defrawi Consulting) contributing all kinds of slanderous, false and misleading information on the Tolner operated site internethatesites.com (copy previous version) (whois) plus 13 copies**, on his personal toy the fake consumer protection site Bureau of Ethical Internet Commerce beiconline.com. (copy previous version) and by spamming message boards to attack Lou Pearlman's targets. (Beiconline taken down by host after complaints and proof of bogus registration data)

The allegations about the alleged "Group of Criminals" are supported by a few more companies. Their sites/pages are primarily devoted to the defamation of Ripoff Report owner Ed Magedson.and investigating reporter Frank Torelli. Mentionable: Steven Miller of Federated Financial Services, Inc. runs bad-business-rip-off.com (cache) and rip-off-bad-business.com plus Helene Goldnadel's ezripofflawsuit.com (whois) by International Creative Artists (web), Helene Goldnadel (web). Michael J. Zwebner, a sue-happy alleged fraudulent penny-stock manipulator / Lycos board polluter, Al & Larry Bagwell of KidsCom Inc.aka justourkids.com aka National Talent Associates , Stacey Eastman aka Pulse Management, Select Your Gifts / Joe Cooper Ford.

Steven Miller and Michael Zwebner appeared in a video report (download here ) by investigating journalist Carmel Cafiero, repeating their allegations about Magedson. See the announcement on beiconline.com "special report by FOX in Miami" dated Febuary 25. According to a letter on ripoffreport.com dated March 22, about a week before the video was aired on Fox 7-News / WSVN TV Miami. Allegedly 'a Mr. Hoffman" (Bill?) got Cafiero to do the report for him as a favor.
Strange, these mentioned different airing dates. Not a word about the video report on the WSVN site, though. Reminds me of this article (see last paragraph), in which Bill Hoffman tells reporter Bob Whitby that WFTV aired a story about possible credit-card fraud hitting Wilhelmina's online customers, but Whitby could not find it on the WFTV website.

Zwebner is known to have run a smear campaign and lawsuit against critic Les French / John Does Anonymous Foundation (JDAF), all damages were found unproven by court . Things later were settled out of court, but Zwebner just went on spreading misleading information. I conclude that an ordinary person in the plaintiffs’ and Mr. Faro’s shoes would not have prosecuted this claim. On the record available to me, I find strong circumstantial evidence that the plaintiffs brought this defamation suit against the media defendants for an improper purpose."

Another Zwebner loss, in consistancy with frivolous case UCSY vs James W. Coughlin. Mr Coughlin's anti-SLAPP motion was granted by the Court last October. Now mr Zwebner, who currently even has the same attorney (Cooper) as Pearlman, was ordered to pay almost $40.000 attorney's fees and costs!

Can you imagine? About 2000 (TWO THOUSAND) WSN contestants feeling so abused that they are taking the effort to file a complaint (meaning the actual number of dissatisfied clients will be much higher). And in two years the Attorney General just can't find a thing. Amazing! Bravo! This is about the most supreme example of the art of Magic I have read in ages.

How can a company who allegedly made a hundred million dollars go bankrupt? Try to imagine. Funny, huh? The money is gone (where? .... ) and the case is dropped (why?.... ). Anybody out there with an answer???

Poor stupid Alec... One should almost feel pity for the distressed idiot, who thought he could control damage on the scam.com board. He subscribed via proxy under at least twenty (!) different names and started posting his drivel trying to create confusion and divert board members from researching his latest scams. Especially his own thread entitled Bureau of Ethical Internet Commerce is extremely entertaining. In the end DeFrawy loses his senses completely, even calling Klaas a Nazi anti-semite Internet Terrorist! This apotheosis happened to be his last post, because shortly after it the board moderator banned him for using multiple identities. And a few weeks later again.

Les Henderson falsely accused of spreading virusses, installing Trojans and attempting to have sex and drugs with a 17 year old girl. The anonymous 'Cindy' posted on a voy.com board and on monster-ISP board. Same day, within a few hours after the fake letter was posted, the slanderous lie was featured on crap-writer Alec DeFrawy's fake consumer protection site Bureau of Ethical Internet Commerce beiconline.com (copy). Beiconline was down for some time, but it is back with a new anonymous registrant. In the latest version false allegations were added about Les being investigated by the FBI about 9-11, together with Amr Elgindy.

You can't even really contact them on their own "contact us" link!!! Ha! Enclosed is the letter which they refused: "You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. "The other day I was contacted by an organization calling itself Fashion Rock. They invited me, as an agency, to join their database to access their talent. They wanted references from me, after which I informed them that they could contact the State of Texas - as a licensed agency, that should be reference enough. I began to become wary, but played along. I next am directed to their site, www.webstylenetwork.com, and asked to call them on the phone. When I do, the automatic phone machine answers as "Transcontinental Talent." This is probably the largest scam to ever hit the modeling industry, including all their other names, such as EModels, Options Talent, etc. The name continues to change, but the ripping off of people never ceases.
I told them I was not interested in becoming involved in their TCT scam... I even mentioned how it was sad to see them all hiding their faces in shame when the news cameras of “20/20” tried to interview them last year. They told me that TCT and Options and all the other names had gone bankrupt and that they (Fashion Rock, Web Style Network) had purchased their database. I guess they thought saying this would make them all innocent.
If they are now legitimate, they can demonstrate that by starting to pay back all the people that they have ripped off."

The Fashion Rock talent contests show a pattern of BIG promises, high fees, but no worthwhile returns. Some may call this a clever way of running a business. I call it a scam, it is nothing but a shameless and indecent method of ripping off young boys and girls with a dream to be successful in showbizz. People like Lou Pearlman should be behind bars instead of filthy rich. Now he is threatening and sueing sites which expose the truth about his ways of conducting businesses. Not the BBB for a start, only the ones run by individuals who easily will be ruined by lawyer costs if it comes to lawsuits. Mister Pearlman a.o., your attempts to clean your image on the Internet will be all in vain. Try and sue ME, you coward!

I actually used them for the first time last week. I ordered 10 resumes and paid 50 dollars. They screen electronically and some neat back office functions. I like it so far, but will keep you updated.

Yes, amazing numbers of people are too easily believing whatever they hear or read, truth or lie. We know all about that, don't we. [sarcasm] Every morning first thing, thousands of young people started the newborn day turning on their computers and searching the web for "trans continental talent" (or these days fashion rock), while thoughtlessly reading the papers, forums and blogs, constantly changing their minds to whatever they would read. After first having spent many worthwhile dollars, somehow 150.000 people read a critical article and suddenly many became very dissatisfied. What you say the AG said, sounds very much like: people should better not be able to read anything critical, because they are too stupid to know how to judge things for themselves. Violating your First Amendment and the right on free speech, the freedom of press and - most disturbing - the rights of people to be able to read what they want and to make up their own minds, that is what this explanation actually means. If Florida AG Charlie Crist really has written or said this, he should be held to explaining some more...
